For years we have heard, tested, sold, installed and lived with all different types and brands of speakers. So when we set out to find a great line of speakers to call our own we had a good grasp on what was out there and what sounded best, and most importantly what our clients wanted. We understand that choosing a speaker, especially unheard, is tough given all the options and hype in the speaker market... So here are some tips to help you out:
When choosing speakers for your home there are usually two things that come up first - Quality and Aesthetics. So we have worked hard to give you as many specs on each speaker as possible, while still keeping things easy to read. But here's a few things to keep in mind to help you narrow down your options:
Speaker Type - The speaker type is its overall design: In-wall or In-ceiling (aka. architectual), or In-room (aka. Floorstanding, bookshelf, soundbars, on-wall), Outdoor (aka. All-weather), Sub-woofers (aka. LFE or Sub)
Timber Matched - The phrase 'Timber-Matched' simply means the speakers are of the same family, made of the same components, and thus have the same overall sound quality. You generally can mix Types of speakers, as long as the are Timber-Matched also. For example - Any of our Episode 500 Series speakers will work together, as they are all of the same Series (Family).
Usage - Where do you need sound, whole-home audio or home-theater? For whole-home audio use you can easily get away with using just about any of our speakers, for basic background music. But for anything other than that, and you will definitely want to step up in terms of quality and features, with home-theater being the place that is in most critical need of great speakers.
